WATCHING AND WAITING by Tom Jensen
Watching…
Waiting…
Staring out the window
Down upon a stairway by a concrete wall
Watching…
Waiting…
Wondering which door you will exit
Or if you will exit at all
Watching…
Waiting…
Wondering the reasons why I am here
Is it for a warm embrace?
Is it just to see your face?
Is it for love?
Or maybe all of the above?
Watching…
Waiting…
As faces enter and faces leave
I think they are you and then I am deceived
As I see myself in the light’s reflection
I wait for you to walk towards my direction
Watching…
Waiting…
As if I am playing a game
Cannot unfix these eyes from this window pane
Whether or not you appear you still remain the same
For better or not I am still glad I came
The evening passes
The lights begin to grow dim
I see a leaf fall dead
From upon a tree’s limb
