I was reading a Beatles book and there was a quote by John Lennon about wanting to name The Beatles something short when it came to their name because “when you put it on the poster… the shorter the name - the bigger the print.” I thought those words were fantastic and made for a great song lyric… Do you want to see your NAME IN LIGHTS?
Most of the time when I write I won’t have any set melody in my head and I will just start writing with the first line and then go from there a line at a time. With no musical education past fifth grade, haha, sometimes I can come up with a pretty good idea of how I think the lyrics sound best. EXIT THE SANDMAN has a pretty set form of how I think it should sound…
The ladder is the drug ladder. I climbed all the way up to cocaine before I decided to climb back down. CLIMBING THE LADDER is a song about how to get yourself out of the trouble you’re in. It’s an escape plan…
If you are a cynic like me then the whole world is out to get me and this is their plan of attack… Remember, there are the haves and there are the HAVE NOTs...
There have been studies done on the causes of addiction and the results aren’t what everybody would have you think. They did a study of rats and built them a rat paradise where all their needs where met and none of them got addicted to the cocaine water. They could access it whenever they wanted and it wasn’t a big deal. Balance, my friends. I'm pretty sure that RAT PARK also applies to HUMAN PARK...
The corruption of institutions is rampant… This one is more true every single day my friends. The mainstream media is for the birds and has no desire of “rearranging this big jigsaw puzzle until all the pieces fit.”
I don’t remember if I wrote this in REHAB but I did attend the D.U.I.L. program for second offense drinkers and drivers. It was a two week program and like summer camp for unlucky people… haha. I hit a double in the softball game on the last day of camp. Woot!
I wrote the beginning lines of this poem while tripping on acid when I was twenty two or so. I bought a strip off of some kids on the train and walked to the park with my friend. I stopped to buy colored markers from the store and wrote down the first six lines of lyrics in all different colors. “The whole world’s a fight I can’t get no peace” – that was in red I believe… haha… On a good trip this is a PERFECT WORLD...
