TWO O’CLOCK ON SUNDAY AFTERNOON By Tom Jensen
Have you ever felt like
You were trapped in time?
Or living in a book
Whose pages never turn?
Not really living
Not really dying
You say you’re still studying
So what have you learned?
You try to live your life
As if love was tangible
That helps make your day
A little more manageable
Especially when times are tough
And becoming harder to handle
When passion burns your flame
You let love become the candle
Yet you are the closest to those
Who are the farthest away
When asked about your life
Then that’s your sentence
It’s the first thing you’d say
All those who come too close
Are bound to get pushed away
There’s a support group for those
Left hurt or wounded by you
That secretly meets once a week
It’s a fun place to go
Just to see who you know
Though it’s always the same story
No matter who speaks
I’ll give you the address
So come by and say hi and hello
Sit down and have a healthy cry
And a free hot cup of joe
If you’re ever free
With nothing to do
At two o’clock on Sunday afternoon
