TOTEM POLE by Tom Jensen
I took my axe and had a whack at the Totem Pole
Flexed my muscles and let a good swing go
With one swift chop a head fell to the ground
Try to bury that sunuva bitch
Where it’ll never ever be found
I’ve been climbing the ladder of drugs
Almost to the top of the wrung
And I just decided to take a step down
That’s why I swung
Straight down the middle and follow through
You don’t get measured by what you say
But rather what you do
Alcohol had its days, its months, and its years
I’ll be the world’s greatest magician
If I can make a bottle disappear
Step by step, booze and butts and then bongs
For they’ve been the inspiration
For far too many of my songs
Almost time to choose something better
Almost time to come back to earth
Almost time to slay the three – headed monster
Almost time to lift the curse
You maybe young but some things still get old
Got to reshape your life while you can still break the mold
The one that you created while your ego was being deflated
Your balloon filled up with led so now it won’t fly
Just what happened to your head and blinded your eyes?
Your cross weighs the same as your Totem Pole
Everyday it gets heavier so you need to dig a bigger hole
Every face has a pair of eyes able to stare into your soul
Once it grows too strong it’s out of your control
Every enemy face must fall
Start chopping
Do it once and for all
Not all this starting and stopping
For no totem pole is ever too tall
