TIME TO CLIMB by Tom Jensen
Life is one big competition
when's it gonna stop?
We all strive
to scale the mountain
trying to reach the top
The first step's a doozy
As you walk along
the summit of the cliff
The wheels of the mind
spin uncontrollably
Just then suddenly
the ground begins to shift
Have you ever tried
to move mountains
with only your mind?
Or do you tell everyone
You could never do that
so why even try?
Well I've found out
Just one thing to be true:
If you wanna
break the mold
First you gotta
break the rules
Yet deviate from
the path to success
You'll be left to clean
up your own mess
Daddy brought
home the bacon
As mommy made
up your room
Even your big brother
had to tie the bows
on your shoes for you
But you're getting
older now sonny boy
And that same old act
will never do
Waiting for all us
monkeys to evolve
Is like saying
you're watching
the earth revolve
Or praying to a
toilet bowl porcelain god
Never believing
that this great puzzle
can and will be solved
Oh my child...
what are you
doing that for?
Oh my child...
you could be doing
so much more
It's when you've
given up on trying
Stop believing in yourself
That's when you start dying
It's finally time to climb
rather than lying low
When the alarm clock
fails to wake you
Is when earthquakes
will no longer shake you
So don't ever misplace the self
That you once used to know
