THANKS DAD by Tom Jensen
You don’t know what it’s like to work for a living
To you every day is happy thanksgiving
While your friends work their hands to the bone
You just call daddy dearest up on the phone

And you tell him all about how you got it so rough
Then you start crying that your allowance just isn’t enough
You don’t know what it’s like to work for a living
To you every day is Happy Thanksgiving

But what if I told you
That to some it’s always Halloween
Just tricks and no treats
Forget candied sweets
No treats were ever found
When vampires and reapers
Are the only one’s around

Happy Halloween
Say hello to defeat
Life sometimes can get pretty mean
When there are people walking
Without any shoes on their feet

But you, you wouldn’t know
There’s always someplace that you can go
To daddy’s cottage on the lake
Or maybe his mansion on Boca Raton
You never had to pay for any mistake
Daddy just had to wave his magic wand

Then trouble disappeared
With life again like chocolate cake
Do you even know what planet you’re on?
You have your own two feet for goodness sake
Someday you’ll have wished you had stood
These words I say are for your own good
