SKATING WITH BILL LEE by Tom Jensen
So what if all of the people here can't remember...
If they were born in October or November?
It's a good sign for our time
We still enjoy circles more than lines
For awhile I was inclined
To believe we'd lost our minds....
When hell freezes I'll be skating
And my friend Bill Lee will be waiting
With a dubee in his hand
Wearing a big smile and a tan
I'll just say,
How you doing... Mr. Spaceman?
Yeah, me and Bill we talk a lot
We got the same dealer who sells us pot
Once we fought out in a parking lot
Over which one of us just bought
The rest of what he had got
Until I said uncle........
From inside a headlock
Needless to say that now
Bill has to bring the brownies
That keeps us hip with
All of the local townies
I'll bring the chip and dip
And my big book of poetry
Together we'll fan the fire of a flame
Right after we roll up a tree
We'll pass it to the left, we'll pass it to the right
First pass is to me and then to you
We'll keep passing with a passion
'Til the asking for more passing is through
So what if all of the people here can't remember...
If they were born in October or November?
It's a good sign for our time
We still enjoy circles more than lines
For awhile I was inclined
To believe we'd lost our minds....
