SILHOUETTE OF A STRANGER By Tom Jensen
Everyday thousands of people
Can be seen here walking downtown
Watch them pass the pizza parlor
And gaze out upon the harbor
There are so many sights and sounds
Some act just like small children
Laughing, smiling, looking all around
While others stand with both their hands
Inside of their pockets
Some walk sadly with their heads down
Lonely eyes fixed upon the ground
I see a well-dressed man
waiting for anything or anyone
That will help him with his quest
to find what can't possibly be found
As for me I'm not running
for anything or from anyone
I am searching for that one special face
that sticks out amongst the crowd
From a distance I thought I saw
someone whom I mistook for you
As I tried to catch the butterflies
and quell those anxious feelings
To my surprise I realized 'twas
the silhouette of a stranger
For the sun was all too revealing
once I changed my point of view
