SECOND CLASS by Tom Jensen
The last time I was on a plane
I wrote a song
Since then nothing's gone right
And yet time remains the same
Still it marches on…
But I blame myself
For time never chooses sides
Time never pretends to be anyone's friend
Has no enemies or allies
It just grows hollow, empty and cold
After you've been begged to
And pleaded for
Bartered with and traded
Then bought, stocked and shared
Just to be resold
It sure is hard to save face
Being stuck in such a place
Since the world's become one great race
It's toward you now that all the heads have turned to
You've learned by now at least
That that much hasn't changed anyhow
If you try and you fail
And that nothing's working right
Perhaps this time you should take a left
Maybe it is time to go and follow the sun
Rather than go chasing after the night
