SCRAPE YOUR SOUL by Tom Jensen
When I don’t have a bowl
I usually scrape my soul
When I’m free of dependency
That is the time that I depend on me
The more I know about myself
The more I see that I need someone else
Someone to keep me pointing in the right direction
Someone to let me know when I make the wrong selection
There are those who use trickery
There are those who use deceit
Those who are deceited
Who every once and awhile can somehow get through
Without ever getting defeated
But the above named
Are few and far between
As those of us left know
To only use such tactics when in dire need
I only bluff at poker when the moneys on the line
I only try to hide some of myself
When I’m either running out of patience or running out of time
But when it comes to loving someone else
I’ve never been afraid to sell my soul blind
But only for the right one
Would I ever consider chopping down my roots
And only for the right one
Would I ever risk sticking my head inside a noose
The biggest trouble in this world
Is that you never get out of it alive
Yet she maybe the only girl
For who I may be able to put on hold
All of the things for which I strive
We’re all learning all the time
With each new step we take
As you search the strangest thing you’ll find
Is that putting everything you got out on the line
Sure sets you up for a heartbreak
Just say the word to me
And Ill find the greater purpose I must serve
Just say the word we
Ill give you everything that you deserve
