PYRAMIDS by Tom Jensen
Why do I care what someone says?
If their heart is filled with hate?
With age I’ve learned to appreciate
Sometimes it’s best to walk away
To avoid a big mess
Let them laugh in jest
You got to show them a better way
So what about the price you paid?
Why do I care what someone says?
If their mind it don’t think straight?
Should I take a verbal crowbar to their head?
Hurts my ears to hear the sound of clanging lead
I’d love to but don’t have the time
I’ve got to get back to this rhyme
For you see I see life as a paint-by-numbers
I’m trying to pyramid everything down to prime
Well I’ve got so many things left to do
Before my life is over and out; done and though
Why on earth should I waste my time when
I got my rhyme and better things to listen to:
I could hear my lovely girl singing
Or maybe money cha-cha-ching-ing
Go dreaming of wedding bells ringing
But Not You!!!! You ding-a-ling
Why do I care what someone says?
If their heart is filled with hate?
With age I’ve learned to appreciate
Sometimes it’s best to walk away
To avoid a big mess
Let them laugh in jest
You got to show them a better way
Live to see the light of another day
