PROXY WAR By Tom Jensen
“Son, it’s the final battle…
Another man just fell dead
You can hear the death rattles
They’re slaughtering us like cattle”
His broken and rusty voice said…
Yeah, out of the blue this guy with stripes
And a head full of graying hair, you see
I saw him looking at me like he
Had something to say I could tell
By the look on his face and his stare
That’s when I turned
And started walking away
But I soon learned
My intuition was working today
And that’s rare
Hey there my man:
I think you’d look good
In a green uniform
Whose side are you on
In this latest proxy war?
Where do you stand?
Do you even know
Which side that you’re fighting for?
Now they let you decide…
Didn’t you read and fill out the form?”
I asked the man near me: So how did you choose?
He said he flipped a coin since he had nothing to lose
Said he loves taking orders and loves taking abuse…
In fact he said he woulda been the first one to join…
Had he only knew
