Just hoping you’ll come along
Now that calls for a song
Just thinking of you tonight
Gives me more poetry to write
For words must be my comfort
When you can’t be here by my side
Some nights when lovers sleep alone
They find they are not cold yet deny
But you and I have passed that test
Neither one of us was pressed
from that mold
I sleep well knowing as I rest
I’ve seen that special something
that you’ve showed…
The warmth of your eyes
Could easily melt snow
Just how do you choose allies?
Well, sometimes you just know
Everybody needs a helping hand
Sometimes even two
When I cry you’ll dry my tears
Because that’s what lovers do
I got some money
Maybe I’ll spend it on you
I still got some love left
Hopefully enough to get us through
In this world of disparaging remarks
We all need to hold something true
Whenever you need me I’ll be there
And I know I can count on you
