LEWIS AND CLARK by Tom Jensen
I've got a stone here on a chain
Yet the chain lacks a clasp
Still I carry it with me
Even though no one ever asked
For me to take this weight
Yet I did not hesitate
It's by choice and not by fate
Why I'm always running late
And why I often feel run down
From carrying this thing around
But if you knew all that I knew
Then you'd carry this weight, too
Those left ignorant and in the dark
Might have found themselves a flint
But they've yet to make it spark...
When they aimed their arrows they hit their target
Yet they came up short and missed the mark
Spent their time living their lives like lost explorers
Forever searching after Lewis and Clark
