LAZY CITIZEN By Tom Jensen
I'm an inefficient dissident baby
Because lately the government
has been acting crazy
And I been feeling
like a lazy citizen
But being ignorant
doesn't mean you're innocent
Sure I still scorn, point and laugh at the rich
I hold signs that state
When you are born somewhere war torn
Poor and poverty stricken
That's when life is a b$%ch
But I just got a job
Hanging these cameras up on poles
A shiny badge with my name
And a hat saying:
Anti-Terrorist Patrol
In the name of safety....
I do whatever they tell me
I've been feeling lucky lately
That no one has yelled at me
So hey...God bless the U.S.A.
Here's a hip hip hooray
'Cause in some countries
what I write or say
Would get me killed
or at least locked away
They let me
hold the gun
'Cause I'm good
at serving power
They said shoot
anything that runs
As they placed me
in this tower
Finally a job that's fun
They used to pay per metric ton
Funny when people lost their faces
They allowed it
But when they lost money
Their faces soured
They said sorry son, no health care
But we'll replace
any limbs we can't repair
Hey... if you sign up today
and start right away...
You get to participate
in next year's 401K
Oh wait...nevermind...
Wage slaves like you
only get paid by the hour
I'm an inefficient dissident baby
Because lately the government
has been acting crazy
And I been feeling
like a lazy citizen
But being ignorant
doesn't mean you're innocent
Sure I still scorn, point and laugh at the rich
I hold signs that state
When you are born somewhere war torn
Poor and poverty stricken
That's when life is a b$%ch
