HOPE FLOATS By Tom Jensen
Rise up, rise up and follow me...
For I've been sent to help defend
Good old democracy
From all you corporate kids
Who've failed to see...
What's blowing is more than just the breeze
There's lots of negative energy
Coming from your cries of what's in it for me
Won't you kindly
Oh pretty please
Show me or tell me:
What do you love about yourself?
Come on now, honestly...
Surely it'll end up no surprise
When we all see far worse
Than sad eyes and bruised pride
When the U.S.S. Enterprise
Is engaged in Star Wars
As we all run for our lives...
If we just let things be...
We'll find that our state of mind
Will be in a state of remorse
Ooh...there is and will be great misery
If we get too greedy
Actually, we may already be
Swallowed up by an endless sea
Inside the big black hole
Known as the status quo
Sure, they can sink my boat
But they can't take my hope
That's still beyond anyone's control
So with that it's time for me to go...
Telling everyone I know
There's something better
Waiting down the road
Just what it is
I can't wait to see...
And who'll be
Standing next to me
Well, time will show
