HAVE TO LAUGH By Tom Jensen
My people are funny
Funny how? Well, most of the folks say that
They act strange in what that they do...
Instead of thinking only about themselves
They spend most of their time
Thinking about me and you...

My people are funny
It's very unusual the way in which they live...
Our whole lives we're taught
To take and take and take
But somehow they've been led astray
For they try to give and give and give...

My people are funny
They've got uplifting spirits
Yeah, even when life's got them down
Their positive energy - oh, you can feel it
It's really hard work to be unhappy
When you see them coming around...

My people are funny
Got wrinkles on their foreheads, dents on their faces
That I think comes from them smiling all the time
Watch out now - I think it might be contagious
Since most of them are musicians
Perhaps one of the symptoms may be rhyme...

My people are funny
They're the ones with all these original thoughts
That keep on swimming around in their heads
They're not repeaters nor fast food eaters
Or liars or cheaters and when they hurt inside
Try to heal it themselves rather running for meds...

My people are funny
Seems they always try to wear
Everybody else's pair of shoes
They talk to me, other friends and family
Instead of becoming glued to their TV
Or that daily drama that we call the news...

My people are funny
But in my life they're all I really have
So even though they act so different
I've learned to except that
And I guess it's not so bad
My people are just really different...
So much so that I just (ha ha ha) have to laugh
