Free me from this bond of hate
I swear to you it’s not too late
One man’s love can only go so far
Yet I am not one to run from a falling star
Too much freedom and your hands are chained
Think too much and your mind thinks strange
Everything I hate about myself makes me
All I love myself for I know in time will break me
Just how do I change the man I’ve made?
Dealt myself straight hearts and spades
Short suited some might say but the dealer was me
The deal was clean - all right, all wrong
Two extremes with nothing in between
With what I know and what I’ve seen
It can end up being such a wonderful thing
But a nature such as mine is guaranteed
To either make you a pauper or make you a king
And the angel on my shoulder
Warned me of glory and talked of fate
Told me of the burden of carrying this boulder
At least she reached me before it was too late
So the road I’ve made was far from paved
There’s still a chance I won’t die from old age
Busy little Samaritan helping everyone else
Busy little Samaritan won’t you help yourself?
If you’re wishing for a fairy princess to kiss a toad
Sometimes you have to leave people lying by the side of the road
History never changes even as it grows old
No need to relive the story that’s already been told
Dreams of love, of peace, of magical potion
Of mountains, of valleys, of the bottom of the ocean
No devils, no gods, just what is real
What is known to be true - only how I feel
Selfish is a creature near the bottom of the sea
Sometimes you get wise when you just let them be
Give everything you got and you’ll wind up there too
You look at someone’s nature and you’ll know what they’ll do
So much to give yet even more to lose
Can’t save the entire world so you have to pick and chose
The truth of the matter of saving anybody else
The first step begins once you save yourself
Busy little Samaritan how full is the glass?
Will you drink it down quick or let it last?
Busy little Samaritan it comes down to you
For only you know what it is you will do
