FANTASY AND REALITY by Tom Jensen
Fantasy and reality…
Meet my best friend
And my second worst enemy
Since most of you think you already know me
I’d like to introduce to you the rest of me
To who I’d never let you see
Fantasy and reality…
I’ve always been an underachiever
Especially with the latter
However…in love I’m still a believer
And isn’t that all that really matters?
Fantasy and reality…
Bedroom window clouds are beautiful
So long as you’re not afraid of the rain
There the fruit grows bountiful (and plentiful)
Albeit sometimes hard to obtain
I’ve seen many apples fall
The morning after the storm touched down
As I witnessed the tree stand tall
I, too, stood firm as everything else blew ‘round
Fantasy and reality…
One acts as heaven
The other a living hell to me
It’s been known to change
Month to month and sometimes
Even week to week
Fantasy and reality…
All I need is the prison cell key
If you ever find it won’t you give it to me
I’d be either forever grateful
Or else forever free
From both fantasy and reality…
My best friend and my second worst enemy
Since I am my own worst enemy.
