DOG PADLING IN THE DEEP END by Tom Jensen
If you have a moment
I’ll teach some history
About learning from your mistakes
Some things that have happened to me
You know the ship that landed me here
Chartered a course that was anything but clear
We all set sail with no money for bail
And little did we know that they were hot on our trail
We set out on our adventure
With the moonlight as our guide
But when trouble blows your way
The ocean’s no place to hide
There’s no chorus in this song
We all just sort of paddle along
We’ve found after many a days
Just what the weight of ignorance weighs
When the birds circle
You’ve got to keep on your toes
Because what the tide brings in
Nobody ever knows
Maybe a tidal wave, a hurricane, or just plain fog
But up here in the crow’s nest
You can wind up shaking
Just like a wet dog
