CLEAR VIEW By Tom Jensen
I had a clear view through the mirror
At what was left behind me
And in the rear view I saw nothing back there
That I want coming to find me
Yes I must confess that I just recently left
a big and bloody mess
Here I now stand on this dangerous precipice
with newly found freedom
Knowing I must forget what I let go for not
Sure, the war came and went and yet I never fought
I ducked for cover, turned tail and hid
Now I got the rest of my life to learn to live with it
I didn't wanna be a hero
When it was time to make a stand
So I yelled, "Retreat!!!" as loud
as a man possibly can
Oh the pain, oh the humanity
To see one man lose his sanity
Especially when that man is me
And I'm lacking a family
One that could potentially
Say the right things to me
That would be the incentive
For me to do the right things, you see?
But I guess that's why
I'm here in the first place
Less we forget that I fell
Flat on my face in the first race
When I carried the weight
of the world on my back
Yeah, I really thought I could
Huh, just try imagining that
Ahh...on second thought...
I wouldn't...
(Well...I would)
