BUILDING BRIDGES by Tom Jensen
Dying leaves fall from trees
Harsh winds blow and rivers freeze
 Birds escape to warmer places
Red cheeks glisten on children's faces

Steam escapes through breath outside
Bears in caves in their shadows hide
Rain slowly gives way in the sky to snow
Soon white footprints trace where the animals go

Enter the clouds, exit the sun
Find a warm place, a new season has come

As I'm learning
Books are burning
In the fireplace to keep me warm

And then suddenly...
I feel a summer breeze
But it's such a tease
When it blows in the middle of winter...
yeah...

It seems soon all will be lost
As the polar caps
They both just snapped
For the man they once called Frost
Is now simply known as Jack

So surely as the sun is felt
It means that more ice will melt
Creating pools and streams
That we can no longer cross

So now I'm here
And then I'm there
Pretty soon
I'm everywhere...

Building bridges across the world
Now the water's swarming with sharks
And the path we're all following
Takes the shape of a question mark

Standing up...
I've become rigid and stiff

I look below after building my bridge
All the while I'm wondering:
"What if?"
